EUREKA Network Projects

So-called EUREKA Network projects are, in reality, market-oriented transnational collaborative RDI projects.

The projects submitted in this framework come from partners following a purely "bottom-up" logic. They do not reply to any call for projects and are not subject to any calendar. Consequently, they may be submitted at any time and may concern any technological theme. Therefore, it is the partners who are free to define the content and organisation of their project.

In the case of a positive evaluation, the projects do not receive any funding from EUREKA but a label. They are financed by national funding agencies (Innoviris for Brussels) according to their own specific funding rules.

In order to be accepted by EUREKA, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

  • The projects must bring together at least two partners from two different EUREKA member countries or a member country and an associated country.

  • The partners may be of any type (SME, large enterprises, research institutions or universities)

  • The projects must, on the basis of a business plan, focus on the development of a civilian and non-military technological product, process, or service.

Furthermore, in order to obtain Brussels funding, the applicants must fulfil Innoviris' eligibility criteria, namely:

  • implement R&D activities in the project

  • develop all or some of its activities within the territory covered by the Brussels-Capital Region

  • present an innovative R&D project likely to have a favourable impact on employment and/or sustainable development of the Brussels-Capital Region

  • show one's ability to finance one's share in the project

  • have fulfilled its obligations in the context of previous support initiatives allocated by the Region.

The submission procedure for a EUREKA project is described in this link.

In the frame of their project's preparation, all Brussels participants must contact Innoviris.

Furthermore, Brussels participants wishing to see their project financed by Innoviris must submit it to Innoviris via the Explore or Shape measure. The project will be evaluated by Innoviris in the frame of these measures and according to the rules and criteria which apply to them.

Projects for which the partners have secured private or public funding will receive the EUREKA label.

Type of financial intervention
